Kazbegi National Park protects the high country around Stepantsminda at roughly 1,400 m and up, where alpine meadow gives way to moraine, snowfield and the glaciers of Mt Kazbek (5,047 m). It is one of the most photographed corners of the Georgian Caucasus.

The walking is built around three gorges — Truso, with its travertine terraces and mineral lakes; Dariali, with the Gveleti waterfalls and the “lake of love”; and remote Khde, ringed by peaks for alpinists.
