Vashlovani National Park

Semi-desert badlands and arid woodland unlike anywhere else in Georgia

Region
Kakheti
Area
35,292 ha
Established
2003
Best season
Apr – Jun · Sep – Oct

Vashlovani sits in the far south-east of Kakheti and looks nothing like the rest of Georgia — a semi-desert of eroded badlands, arid light woodland and open steppe, with the snowy Greater Caucasus floating on the horizon.

It is the country’s best birdwatching destination and a place for jeep tracks, ranger-guided walks and fly fishing on the Iori. Summers are punishingly hot, so spring and autumn are the seasons to go.
